There isn’t a character written on the pages of Tiffany Reisz’s Original Sinners series that won’t leave you a bit broken hearted when you read their story. I don’t know how she does it, but she manages to craft these characters that come from the most harrowing backgrounds and yet, end up with the greatest hearts. Yes, some of them hide those soft hearts away…I’m looking at you Soren, but they all have it and it adds to the beautiful layers our Original Sinners possess. The one character that can make even Soren soften is Michael – his story is nothing short of amazing. If you haven’t read this series, please just do us all a favor and read it. We meet Michael in The Angel (Original Sinners #2) and man, there’s no going back once you let Michael in your life.
MICHAEL’S WINGS is a short-ish story covering the time when Griffin proposes to Mick. It goes a bit back in time, since, if you’re a good little Sinner you’ve already seen, SPOILER ALERT! their actual wedding. Nora is everyone’s sounding board, their light in the harbor of difficult decisions so naturally, when things get confusing, Michael goes to her for advice. Marriage is a big step and I love the way Nora, ummmm, whips him into shape! Like I said, this is a fast read, but watching Michael figure his head out and then, his declaration of love…oh man, one of the best I’ve ever read.
Logically speaking Michael and Griffin shouldn’t work on paper, hell, let’s face it – there isn’t a couple in this series that should work on paper and yet, they all do, beautifully. Reisz makes you work for the happy, it’s almost always wrapped up in intrigue but man, it’s worth the bumpy ride, always. This book contains other previously released stories revolving around our main couple, Griff and Mick and I love the way she prefaces each tale with where they fit into the larger arch of the series. I don’t recommend you read this without knowledge of the series as a whole – it’s really for us die-hard fans that are Sinners junkies that need our fix on the regular. I’ve said it before and I’ll continue to say it until everyone listens…put aside your preconceived notions of romance, honestly, put aside some things that might be hard limits for you, things that might make you uncomfortable and just read this series. It’s so much more than some scary BDSM sex stuff, the characters get under your skin and if you let them in, you’ll become an itchy, scratchy junkie like me, just hanging out, waiting on my next fix!
