Picturing herself as the heroine of a happily ever after is how Scandal rolls. Her first love in the world of romance was paranormal, with Highlanders close on its heels. Contemporary, erotic, mystery and suspense, Scandal is game for anything. Almost anything. Do not give Scandal a new adult book, those things are kindling for a five alarm house fire in her world. Her unfiltered opinions and copious f-bombs blend nicely to give you pointed but never mean spirited reviews. Scandal lives under the Carolina blue sky with her oversexed Big Poppa, her nest leaving boy and her sweet but sassy teenaged girl. It’s a little known fact but Scandal wants to be Tina Fey when she grows up.
Hooked on contemporary and historical romance since her early teens, Carmela partly blames her choice of books for her past romantic misdeeds. Said misdeeds comprised of uprooting herself from her native land and moving to rural England to be with her English hero. Next to her hero and three lovely spawns, reading, reviewing and chatting about romance books give her the simple pleasures in life.
Hope loves the world of make believe. She will read anything and her favorite genre is whatever she is currently reading. You can also find her deep into her TiVo menus or logged onto Netflix. She makes her home in PA with her husband and three daughters, where she often quotes her favorite fictional characters.
Lee's love affair with books began when she first held an Enid Blyton Secret Seven novel in her hands. She reads all sorts of books from gritty, angsty, emotional rollercoasters, to heartfelt sweet romances, from dark romances that push her boundaries, to romantic comedies. Favourite romance genres are historical, erotica, military, mystery/suspense, time travel and contemporary romance, with a recent dabble into paranormal, leaning towards dragon shifters, fae and ghosts. Her nonfiction reading list is just as long, as she is always on the quest of self discovery, enjoying a vast array of spiritual books, personal growth, inspiration and creativity related musings.
When she is not reading, you can find her with her husband and two grown sons, or in her tiny art studio in an outer suburb of Melbourne, Australia.
Lola is probably one of the nerdiest, most free-spirited readers you’ll ever know. Fairly new to the romance genre, Lola’s love for reading stems from a strong appreciation for the classics. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Little Women, Pride and Prejudice and good autobiographies are but a few of her first loves, and you can currently find her deeply rooted in contemporary, erotic romance and romantic suspense. Don’t let the big smile and nerdy glasses fool you, as amongst her peers, she is known as the first to drop some kinky knowledge your way.
Equal parts stodgy old professor and tra-la-la-ing Julie Andrews at heart, Nikki is a logophile and a historical romance aficionado. A lover of the Scottish Highlands, smart, snarky humor and a really good grovel, Nikki is known for her speed reading ability, her frank, filterless opinions and her encyclopedic knowledge of romance. You’ll find her on the Peach State side of the Georgia-Carolina line ranting, reading, baking or shaking her head at the antics of the Xbox-loving men in her life.
Rebeca (Beca) can usually be found knee-deep in a contemporary romance, though she's been known to enjoy romances of the erotic, paranormal and suspense variety. She loves a good alpha hero, preferably with a filthy mouth and intensely creative imagination. Her favorite stories feature characters that can teach her something new, that work hard to do the right thing and are a positive force to the people around them. She's a mom, a wife, a working girl and someone who highly values humor in life and in fiction.
Sunny’s fascination with books began early. As a member of the 1.5 generation of immigrants, she didn’t know what it was like to be “normal.” Books were her entre into the world of the “other.” Since then, books help her explore other people’s experiences and perspectives. Romantic suspense, paranormal romance, urban fantasy, and science fiction (starting with a forty-year love affair with Star Trek) are her genres of choice. But hey, give her a great biography and she’ll forget to eat.
Tania has had her nose in a book for as long as she can remember, you could say she got it from her momma. Fascinated with life during the Middle Ages, the intrigue of court life and the beauty of the Renaissance period, historical romance became a bit of an addiction in her teen years. She credits her reading ADD to her diverse love of most literature, whether it be fiction or nonfiction. Although she enjoys a good contemporary romance, paranormal will always be her first love, followed closely by historicals, anything sports related, new adult and male/male. When not otherwise engaged in the fantastical world of all things books, she’s busy ruling her own tribe of little people with her football obsessed partner in crime, while making their home an hour east of the beautiful Canadian Rocky Mountains.
At a very young age, books became Teena's portal to another existence, a device with which to create and build worlds. She has always had very broad tastes in reading material. As a young reader it varied from Enid Blyton, The Narnia Chronicles and Tolkien, intertwined with romance classics from Gaskell, Austen, The Bronte Sisters and Georgette Heyer. Even today, although you only see and hear her romance genre reads, her shelves are graced by the suspense of Jodi Picoult and Tara Moss, as well as fantasy paranormal by the likes of Raymond E. Feist and Katharine Kerr. When she is not gabbing with the Nerds on the podcast, she can be found out on her family's farm in The Yarra Valley in Victoria, Australia with her horses or gardening. You’ll always find her faithful and usually smelly chocolate lab, Connie at her side.
You can usually find TJ sneak reading almost anywhere. Her kids have been known to call her out on this. She fell in love with reading at a very young age. It's her escape. TJ will pretty much read anything (except weird paranormal). She loves to find new authors with fresh voices. Give her an ugly cry book with an HEA and she's a happy girl!
