Wicked Heat (A Feel the Heat novel) (Entangled Brazen)
Competitors by day, lovers by night…
Allegra Wilks has had the worst month of her personal and professional life. To save her company, she must go on her would-be honeymoon and land the luxury eco-island resort’s lucrative advertising account. But when a lingerie mishap leads her into the arms of a wickedly distracting Australian, Allegra’s tempted to skip the trip and explore the most sensual kiss she’s ever experienced. Too bad their chance encounter at the airport is just that.
Having recently lost his company to his former best friend’s shady business tactics, Jett Alcott is headed to a South Pacific resort to secure an advertising account that will resurrect his reputation and career. Realizing the tantalizing Allegra Wilks is on his flight, Jett envisions a week filled with business and pleasure. But Jett doesn’t know Allegra’s fighting for the same account, or that there’s more at stake than his heart.
Some times in reading, much like life, you just need a good, sexy palate cleansers. A book that has a nice story, minimal angst, hot sex and fun characters. So many of Entangled’s Brazen line fit that mold for me, and Nicola Marsh’s Wicked Heat nails it. At 250 pages, this book is not too long, not too short it’s Goldilock’s just right. There’s plenty of time to develop the characters, delve into their back story, learn their history and things that make them tick without feeling rushed or data dumped on. There’s also enough time to present a problem, solve it and have some really fucking hot scandalicious sex up against the wall along the way. Score.
Don’t think Wicked Heat is all fluff and no depth, oh no my friend, this book touches on some interesting points. Both lead characters, Jett and Allegra come from wealthy, powerful families that treated them less than stellar pretty much from birth. Both share insecurities that have shaped them into the person they are today. They each also have their own individual hang ups that are in dire need of sorting out. Jett feels, dare I say, less manly because of the shit that’s gone on with his business. Missing that his best friend was skimming off the top sent a direct blow to his man card. Couple that with the tenuous relationship with Allegra, having to go toe to toe professionally with his lady love and ol’boy’s got some shit to work out. Allegra, a giant control freak, only has the weight of her ad agency and her employees resting on her shoulders – no big, right?! Wicked Heat has a cast of secondary characters that are sure to entertain you. I’m hoping we will get more on some of these, especially Allegra’s best friend – that girl is all sass so you know she’s hiding some demons! If you are still on the fence, let me just say, Jett is an Australian, surfer guy who looks like Alex O’Loughlin. Now, imagine that guy helping you earn your mile high club card while whispering dirty talk in your ear. And did I mention the kinky toy box? You’re welcome.

Ballroom dancing. I haven’t done it much but when I did I picked it up really fast and danced with the instructor a lot.
