If we were having coffee I would lead right off with…holy shit, have you guys read RK Lilley’s Up In the Air trilogy? Seriously…don’t spoil it for anyone who hasn’t read it but hot damn! I have gotten zero accomplished in my real life because this series has pretty much swallowed me whole. I will post my complete review of the series next week but damn. You don’t even want to hear the internal conversation I just had with myself…see, my reader half didn’t want to walk away from starting Grounded to come in here and type up this pos. So my blogger half had to bitch slap my reader half a bit to get this party rolling. I’m not going to lie, this chat will be a bit shorter today because Scandal has some reading to do…apparently Scandal also has to type in third person but whatever.

I’m a huge Jon Stewart fan. HUGE!!! My love of Jon Stewart is probably bigger than he is tall. True story. I absolutely love funny…and smart funny – forget it, total panty dropper. He’s doing a one night show at our local performing arts center and My Guy scored some tickets. My Guy is totally getting lucky all weekend for this little win! The lucky is gonna fly at him so much My Guy will need to beat it off with a stick.

Ok, ever inquisitive Linnik posed an excellent question…Deke, Deck and Deacon…all are KA characters – anyone care to research them to help clarify their differences? My mother in law has my Kristen Ashley books so I’m relying on my notes. We know Deacon gets a shout out in Raid but Linnik did some leg work, Breathe has Jacob Decker…in Sweet Dreams there’s no mention of Deke’s last name but Laurie says he’s 6’8” and blonde with a ponytail. Anyone care to help sort these guys out a little more? Connect the dots maybe, if there are even dots to connect?
If we were having coffee I’d bring up how crazy women get over their bodies. You may have noticed, I posted two reviews, Raid and Keeping Secrets in Seattle recently. Both of those books touch on some pretty common body issues. I have to say, I love the comments you guys have shared on these posts. It’s good to know that so many of us, regardless of size, are in the same boat. I’m also pleased to notice how many women are going to great lengths to make sure they don’t pass their insecurities down to their daughters. I’ve always said girl shit is the worst shit…we see it every day and it’s starting earlier and earlier, my girl is in elementary school and she sees it. It’s awful. My Girl participates in a running group called Girls on the Run. They train for three months to run in a 5k. It’s pretty awesome. It’s not competitive, it’s all about girl power and working together to build each other up, support each other when they want to give up. Every year they do a service project. Last year the coaches had the girls write uplifting messages on post it notes, things like “You are Beautiful”, You are Smart”, “You are Strong” – all of the good things you want people to say to you or things you say to yourself. The coaches took these post it notes to our local Women’s Shelter that specializes in domestic abuse and stuck them all over the bathroom mirrors, stall doors, walls – you name it. On so many levels, that’s just brilliant. That’s all I’m going to say about that (Forrest Gump) and I’ll step off my soapbox now.

Lilley’s spin off Lana is scheduled for March 11. And Katie Ashley’s Music of the Heart (3/25), March 26th…Jeaniene Frost’s Twice Tempted AND JR Ward’s Lover At Last – are you fucking kidding me?!!? I know there are a lot more out there…what are you anxiously awaiting this month?

I love Raid! I went all fan girl when that bitch dropped early. He’s a little bit Knight and a little bit Sam Cooper, but all Raiden. He’s very different from any of her other heroes. I am hoping that his sissy gets her own book. Maybe she and Deacon? or Hal?
I saw a lot of reviews that came down on KA for “glossing over” Raid’s PTSD. Neece’s hubby is a soldier and she’s a shrink, so we naturally talked about this. Her hubs has been to either Iraq or Afghanistan five times. She says he does have nightmares when he comes home and is broody and cagey for several months following a deployment, but she wouldn’t call this PTSD. My psychologist BFF advises that Raiden does not suffer from PTSD, in her expert opinion, just a natural reaction to emotional trauma and his failure to deal with it in a healthy way. Do you think it’s normal to psychoanalyze fictional characters?????
I LOVE RK LILLEY! I picked up the first book on one of those What-To-Read-After lists and loved it. James Cavendish is the MFM. I don’t like the fact that he didn’t give Bianca hearts and flowers her first time–hell, even Christian gave Ana vanilla to break her in–but otherwise he is AWESOME. You also need to read the THIS MAN series by Jodi Ellen Malpas. Jesse Ward is SERIOUSLY fucking unhinged, but it makes for a VERY interesting and equally hot story. He’s also very British and the slang is hilarious.
I’d also highly recommend the With Me In Seattle series by Kristen Proby. So far, our heroes are a movie star, a former MMA star (yum) and a quarterback. She’s tackling a rock star, a cop and a Navy SEAL to round out the series. Seriously hot, and the MCs remind me of KA alpha men. No commitment phobes in this bunch.

I do have to say, there is something nice about being able to read a trilogy all the way through like this, it’s much easier on my sleep deprived nerves! Also, I’m looking forward to Lana. The PTSD was handled really well. KA authors note was was great but for those who are ardent fans would have got it anyway. Body image is a strong theme of hers throughout her writing, I think anyways!

Up in the air series has been on my tbr pile a while. after I read raid, I’m going to have to take a day off of reading so I can catch up on things (ya, know, like dishes). Seriously, these amazballs authors need to collaborate and pace or something. i got next to nothing done this week.
I agree girl shit sucks big giant donkey balls. From my experience, I think the ovedrwhelming majority of women will have issue with something and as mothers we just have to help them work through that shit and encourage them. My mom had a shitty upbringing and she did everything she could to make me feel loved, but it still didn’t stop the negative feelings I developed for one reason or another. Everyone has a bag of rocks to carry and it does no good comparing weights because everyone carries them different. I think as mothers and as women it’s important to help eachother learn how to be strong to carry those rocks. only when we’re strong enough to love what is inside can we be strong enough to love what is outside. I love what the school has done for you’re daughter and the other girls. I think it would be awesome if they included the mother’s aunts, ect. too. ok, exiting soap box now
I seriousy, no joke, have 8 pages of freebies and 99cent deals on my kindle. Ana had a list up yesterday, and i took advantage of that shit. I’ve found a few diamonds in the rough through those deals! I picked up ‘One week girlfriend’ for 99 cents, and seriously that book was fantabulous. The sequel comes out the same day as walking disaster, and I’m gonna nab the sequel ‘second chance boyfriend’ before walking disaster. THAT is how much I loved the shit out of that book. I also grabbed Sempre as a 99 cent deal, I know you’ve read that scandel, but anyone else? that shit was awesomely wacked.
For discussion purposes, has anyone read Captured/seduced in the dark by c.j. roberts. I read those books back in october and I still find myself debating whether I hate the ending or not. There is no doubt c.j. roberts is one of the best writers i’ve ever encountered, but that shit is DARK. anyone else struggle? I seriously can’t wait for Epilouge. the teasers are awesome.

I’ve been so engrossed in the Up In the Air trilogy these last couple of days, I had to cobble together the saddest and most unhealthy lunch for my kids this morning because I’ve completely neglected my grocery shopping duties…don’t even get me started on the dishes in my kitchen!

Books, books, books…I just started Raine Miller’s Blackstone Affair series. Tania kept slapping me with Gandy photos (another on the freebie list) all week, so I said why not jump into a Gandy fantasy! I am definitely looking forward to Ella Frank’s Blind Obsession and the description is dark and I love dark intense romances…yummy! I am also looking forward to Beth Kery’s mini serial to begin on March 5th titled “When I’m with you”. I love this lady she is great author.
This weekend will most likely be a relaxing one, with lots of reading in store; mani/pedi session with my dear Tania, some acupuncture and finalizing details for my trip to Costa Rica in May. Has anyone done ziplining? I am terrified of heights but always up for trying something once…it’s my adventurous side talking now. The cautious-side is flipping me the bird!

Ziplining is fucking AMAZING!!! We did it as a family 2 years ago and it was the most fun you can have outdoors, with your clothes on! No joke, I laughed the entire time – so much awesome it feels like flying. You are going to love it!!!! You have to do it – just make sure you’re are double harnessed in and fly like the wind baby!!

Okay Instructional video’s on squirting! Do tell! Did you know that there are two types of squirting? What are they, you ask…Porn Squirting and Regular squirting. Porn squirting is when the guy is obviously what you see in most porn videos; where the guy is tapping the woman’s g-spot very aggressively, with his fingers. I am scared to death of heights, but zip lining was awesome. You move so fast and there’s so much to see that you sort of forget about the height thing.
My girl did it and she was only 9 at the time. Because she’s so little she had to go tandem with the guide a lot so that meant she didn’t even have to hold on to the rope…I don’t think I’ve ever heard her laugh so hard!!
That is what I am hoping for Linnik, That I will be distracted by the visuals. Okay it is going on the list, I am going to do it

I have not read the RK Lilley yet, it’s now on my Kindle. Thank you very much…. I’m moving in with you when I’m divorced, broke and homeless. My Kindle has been getting a work out this week. I just finished Lara Adrian’s Edge of Dawn and Kristen Ashley’s Raid. This morning I finished Webber’s Easy, which has been on the TBR pile for a while but kept getting pushed back. Queued up is All American Girl, that I’ll start on the drive home tonight, Tara Sivec’s Seduction & Snacks and Gena Showalter’s Beauty Awakened. Oh, and now the Up in the Air series…. Yes, all of them. When I have to break out the glasses because I can no longer focus, ON ANYTHING, I may have to back off on the reading a bit. Really, not going to happen.
I remember all three of the KA men, Deke, Deck and Deacon and love all three of them. Here’s how I see them. Deke is all biker and is friends with Tate so he has to have some serious badass bounty hunter mojo since he helped Tate out when Laurie was taken. Deck’s first name is Jacob and he’s Chase’s best friend. I think Deck has some major shit to work through since I got the impression his woman was killed or died. He also is either a bounty hunter, tracker or some kind of law enforcement since he helped track down the guys that were making Chase’s life hell for Trane and also helped find Miah and his sister. Deacon is closed up tight and is Raid’s mentor. I don’t have a lot to add for him except he also knows Marcus.
If we were having coffee, I would agree that girls are way more vicious to each other than boys are. I would argue though, that boys also deal with just as much bullshit as girls do about their bodies and the difference between how they know they should act and what others expect from them. They just don’t talk about it. If you look at the covers of most of the books we all love to read?…. how can we not expect them to have some body issues. I’ve never seen so many washboard abs!
This weekend we’re face-painting hundreds of kids for the local cultural center event that we volunteer with every year. I’m going to miss it when I’m completely moved so I’m enjoying this last year. I also have 18 dozen cake pops to make so I’ll be a chocolate dippin fool this weekend.

You are absolutely right about boys and their bodies. My son is young for his year in school so he’s always the smaller kid. He actually had a basketball coach tell him he has the perfect three point shot, the most natural talent he’d ever seen but he wouldn’t let him on the team because he’s too short. Seriously, who tells a 13 year old kid something like that. He’s not even unnaturally short, he’s 5’6″, taller than me…he just hasn’t hit his big growth spurt yet. That fucker really messed with his head and made him not want to try out for basketball again. Seriously, he said he won’t do it again until he gets taller…you can’t make yourself taller…you can work on your three point shot but you can’t work on growing…gggaaaahhhh, it pisses me off just typing about it! So yes, boys deal with that shit too.

Awww…that sucks for your boy. My girl did not make the “all star bball team” for 6th grade this year and she was so upset. She has worked really hard and has come soooo far this last year in bball. Next year starts school try outs for her so I hope she keeps it up.
WTF?! Has that coach never heard of Muggsy Bogues? And with that reference I have exhausted my knowledge of sports. But seriously, height is a stupid ass reason for not putting him on the team! My son plays six instruments, scores way above the average in all his academics and still has self esteem issues because he’s about 5’9″ and weighs around 190, which he feels is too heavy and he’s not got defined muscle. Pisses me off that someone which so much going on worries about that shit. I mean I want him to be healthy but, fuck.
And if I say so myself, I can make a cake pop that kicks ass. I don’t get into a lot of the fancy decorating, it much more about making unusual cake pop flavors that are killer, more than the prettying up something if it doesn’t taste good.
Really!?…….thats just mean. My boy is now 6ft3inches but two years ago(15) he was still 5 ft4inches. That just pisses me off. That’s like telling a girl she is too tall to be a principle dancer!
Beside that if he was even a half way decent coach he would recognise that every team requires at least one smaller player to get ‘under’ the tall guys and to get down to the ball. I hate people with narrow minds!

I was thinking that Decker and Deacon are the same person. In Breathe, Deck is referenced at doing some sort of investigative work in Denver. But if KA says they are all different…
Decker is in Carnal and was going to Denver for a job. Deacon I think is based in Denver but does bounty hunting but was spoken about by Marcus like he was really cold and shut down. Decker seemed to have a great sense of humor and was kind of quirky with the game night references.
Deck’s name is Jacob Decker. Deck is short for his last name, so I don’t think he’s Deacon.

I didn’t love it. I read it in almost 1 sitting (damn kids getting in the way of a KA new release). I liked it, but it felt almost incomplete? I don’t know… Raid is damned lucky Hanna is not me because I would never have given him another chance after the first date. I mean, if you are into someone, do you sneak away to make that phone call? Has he ever heard of text messaging? And to have her over hear it? Poor Hanna. And then the flip out?! Seriously that fictional dude is lucky that I am not his fictional date! I think maybe he is my problem with that book. That and I really do think it needed more…. It felt rushed to me, I guess.
Don’t hate me. I still love KA! I will still auto-buy KA and stalk her. I still have a girl-crush on her.

Hope, I felt a little like it was unfinished, no pun, too. Not that it wasn’t good, I just felt like it didn’t have as much backstory as some of the other KA novels. It seemed like we skimmed the surface of their relationship.
I did like the book…3 stars for me. It just wasn’t my usual 4-5. I will also add, the unfinished hero series is not my favorite.

No lynching here Hope! I did feel I knew less about Raid in comparison to Knight and Creed. Creed story especially felt so robust because we get his and Slyvie’s perspective from youth to adults. I do feel I know Creed and Knight a lot more than I know Raid. With KA continuing this series maybe we will get more of Raid!

I admit, i have had a love-hate relationship with KA lately. I have LOVED every KA book, until Fairytale Comes Alive – couldn’t finish it (gasp!!); then I read Knight – didn’t love, didn’t hate it; then read Heaven & Hell – OMG LOVED IT. I’ve been leery to go back to Creed, but I’ve heard better things about it than Knight. Truth is though, I will end up reading both Creed and Raid, just because I’m that much of a KA junkie.

I realized last week I’ve never reviewed Heaven and Hell…god I loved that book. I read it right after I started this blog and I have no idea why I never wrote it up…guess I need to fix that oversight!
I think it would have been much better had it been longer, but, honestly, I was jonesing so bad for a KA fix that it could’ve been a fucking novella and I would have climbed it like a pine tree.

You are not alone on this one. I’m ashamed to admit I felt exactly the same way. I liked Raid, I just couldn’t love him. KA is the master of details and I felt a little unsatisfied with this one. Unfinished seems like a perfect word for it.
I’m rereading Sam Cooper now to make myself get over it.
I still love all things Kristen Ashley and I will continue to cyberspace stalk her and try yo figure out how her brilliant writer’s mind works!

It’s so sad the body image issues that young girls have. Mine is in 1st grade and she came home the other week asking me if she looked fat! I was floored, confused, and disgusted that she would even think that. Someone put that in her head and I was speechless. My family is healthy and active. My daughter swims 2x a week, plays soccer, lax, and skis during the seasons. She is NOT fat. She couldn’t even be thought of being someone who may be in danger of being considered to have a health issue. She eats like a linebacker, but she’s always moving so it’s to be expected. So sad that this is the society our girls are growing up in. I love the idea of the 5k club at your daughter’s school. I may have to start my own, it sounds like a fun positive experience and our school is HUGH on community service. – Thanks for the idea.
I keep saying that I’m gonna run a race and make my girls do it with me. We will have our own club.

I read Raid and loved it. LOVED it. Raid, I have to claim him in my top five, cause he is seriously awesome.
In the KA thread over at Goodreads, there were some comments made about how some saw Raid as abusive (that scene when he called her the bitch) but I so did not see this at all since his reactions (for me) seemed to be a result of his untreated psych issues from being in the war and losing his buddies. Given the work I do I see domestic violence as something someone does cause they are an unrepetent violent jackass who is just that -a jackass- not someone dealing with untreated mental health issues (which he eventually gets working on thanks to Hanna.) And I also didn’t think Hanna was weak for taking him back when he apologized (some people did). But whatever, as with most books, everyone sees something different in the characters.
But did I mention I loved Raid, cause yeah I sooooo did.
Also, regarding the different characters, in the Goodreads KA Addicts’ Support Group (of which I am a member. Cause the first step is admitting you have a problem…right?!) they are working on a reference guide for common questions and they’ve started by gathering data with characters info. Shit…you guys are on the ball today! I have never read so many posts by this time of the morning! I gave my soap box rant about body image yesterday on a different post so I won’t express those thoughts again. But basically, love all the amazing things about yourself, change what you want and can change and remove all those negative people from your life! I weeded out all the nasty competitive people and will have nothing to do with sneaky back stabbing ones. I am a grown ass woman so take that shit back to junior high because that is obviously where you left your maturity!
I am sipping my coffee sitting at my kitchen table because I am no longer employed!!! YIPEEEEE (sorry Lola, I do miss you!!!) The company did away with their part time positions and I refused to go full time. Meh, I miss the people but I DO NOT miss the bitchy boss! For now, I am going to enjoy my stay at home mommy status.
I re-read Knight this week to get back into the Unfinished Hero series. I am halfway through Creed right now. I kept sending Lola shouty texts last night. Seriously, I wanted to jump in the book and kick his ass when he used her names to name his kids! OK, I am mad again just typing that! But then they do the flashbacks to when they were kids and I love him again. All the aforementioned books are on my TBR list…With Me in Seattle, The Blackstone Affair, This Man and Up In The Air. I try really hard to wait until the series is complete before diving in. I know Up in the Air is now complete so it has been moved to the top of the TBR pile. But listening to all of you…I may not wait! And the fact that Raine uses Gandy as her Ethan Blackstone, well it is freaking amazing that I have not JUMPED that yet!
And March…well March is about JR WARD!!!! I can not wait for that book!

The With Me in Seattle series are stand alones so if you feel like diving in there, there are no cliffhangers. And yea, Gandy is totes Ethan Blackstone! So jump in there…the next is what May? That is not too far away.

I was really looking forward to the 19 March and release day for Beyond Control by Kit Rocha – then last night, I got lucky and received the ARC for BC…. Book 2 in the series and way better so far that I could have expected!!! There’s also book 5 in the Caged series by Amber Lynn Natusch as well as a few others…
