Ok, if we were having coffee I’d tell you my theory for where the hell Rebecca is based on the latest from The Contract by Lisa Renee Jones (side note, did you see this series was just optioned by Starz Networks for its own television show…pretty cool!) Here’s where my head is, but first let me be clear, we are only two books in, I’m allowed to alter or even completely toss this theory as more clues present themselves. My Nancy Drew hat is on…NOW…
I think Mark is the Master. I know that seems very obvious but let me explain…first off, the Master was described as light, Mark has blond hair. Also, she talks about being able to separate work from the Master and the next paragraph goes right in with Mark. I’m leaning towards Mark but there’s more. I think Mark is really big into the whole sharing thing, he likes to show off what he owns, hence the art gallery, Rebecca is his new prized possession. I think Mark shares Rebecca with Chris and on some level, almost a protective level, Chris develops feelings for her. I think Chris tries to discourage Mark from sharing Rebecca with anyone else but Mark doesn’t listen. Somehow Josh catches on to all of this. Creeper Josh has Rebecca now. Rebecca thinks Mark is okay this “share” when really Mark is frantic that he can’t find her. He knows he can’t go to the police because of their lifestyle and how it would reflect on his company. Chris is pissed at Mark, thus explaining the animosity between the two and why he was so determined to keep Sara away from him. A Dom’s first priority is to protect his sub and Mark has failed miserably with Rebecca.
Ba-BAM! That’s my theory. Go ahead, have at it…shoot holes in it…I can take it. Got something better? Let me hear it. Apparently there is another artist we haven’t met yet. That fucker could throw a monkey wrench into my whole plan so we’ll just have to wait and see. I’m actually excited to see how much my theory changes over the coming months.
Moving on, if we were having coffee I’d remind you of two big books coming out next week. Tuesday, Feb. 26th is Edge of Dawn by Lara Adrian. Seriously, if you’ve not started this series, what the fuck?!!? Also, our girl Kristen Ashley’s RAID drops on Thursday, Feb. 28th. I’m so excited to finally share my review with you guys on this one. I’ve never had to hold my tongue this long…I can’t wait to hear what you guys think of Raiden Ulysses Miller. I will tease you with this little nugget…after the outstanding epilogue, Kit gives us a little author’s note with a special message. I happen to think her message is pretty awesome and I really can’t wait to share my thoughts with you on that!

Now that things have settled down from the Wicked Weekend and my boy having the flu, I’m hoping I can get myself back on a regular writing and reading schedule. I swear I’m going to set an alarm on my phone to keep my facebook and twitter time down to a more reasonable amount. Man, social media is a big fucking time suck, no?!!? This weekend, nail appointment tomorrow morning, then off to the stone mason to finalise my kitchen bench tops. From there to the ‘home depot’ type store to get sample pots. The painter starts on Tuesday and I need to have my colours chosen by then.

I’d also like to tell everyone, as much as I hate to do this to an author, I had picked up “elly in bloom’ as a freebie a little while ago. The first half was pianfully boring and while the second half was better, I still found myself wishing I could get those hours back.

Awh! I really liked Magic Mike! I love the documentary style approach that Steven Soderbergh took with the movie. The dancing, penis pumps, the men, all great in my eyes. Channing Tatum got DOWN! I may be in the minority though.

I haven’t been reading much. I have a few lined up and I am, right now finishing BDB Torh’s story (I cannot remember the name of it). I took a break from it because I read all of them, in a row, and fried my brain. I am so glad I took my break because I am really digging it now. BUT other than that book, I am getting caught up on my tv watching, since it is Feb and everything is new, and getting my house in order. My big weekend plans are helping my pack-rat daughter clean and PURGE CRAP from her room and helping my other daughter finish her science fair project. Exciting! I know!!
SO EXCITED FOR RAID! Also Kristan Higgins new book drops next week and I really like her books.
I go back and forth on the social media thing. It is a HUGE time waster and that is annoying. I, so many times just wanted to delete all profiles but I realistically just cannot do it because so many people are on there and I get tons of info there. PLUS I am a nosy bitch and I really like to see what people post on FB and twitter and what-not. I am a stay-at-home mom with all of my kids in school and it is often my entertainment. lol

Shit you not, mine and Neece’s Momma both put out a family newsletter. It’s a monthly occurrence, and details all the family gossip, what everyone’s up to from our hometown, who’s screwing whom, who’s knocked up, etc. I don’t need social media because I have a nosy ass Southern Momma. Also, the first time Neece’s husband deployed, we got a message over Facebook that he’d been killed in a helicopter crash. He was fine, of course, but you can’t unring a bell. We decided as a family to unplug. It was a huge time suck and I kept getting “found” by people I had no fucking interest in talking to……

All things look like they point to Mark but I am of the opinion, that it’s someone that we haven’t been introduced to yet or someone that hasn’t had much of an appearance in the series. It is very obvious that all signs point to Mark. Some are:
1. Her reference to the fact that everyone gives her flowers on Valentines Day, except Mark.
2. She expresses the fact that she can separate the two but there are strong influences that suggest that they exist within the same environment as well. (you touch on this Scandal)
3. She reviews the contract while Mark is out of town and continues to mention that she has to meet-up and discuss the details with the master. But the actual meet-up happens when Mark is back from his trip in New York.
But it all seems too obvious in my opinion and that Lisa Renee Jones is crafty writer. So I am sticking with the fact that the Master is mystery man X for now. Mark is a runner-up. I know it sounds like a half-assed commitment but it just doesn’t seem that clear cut for me.
I have been restricting my reading to novella like stories in preparation of RAID’s arrival …BOYAAH! I can’t wait. As for social media, I think it will be the death of me. Especially since I signed up for twitter last November. It just amazes me the convenience of finding all your interests in one spot. Like over the last few days, Scandal you shared a recipe for blueberry pancakes which I am going to try. Olivia Cunning posted an article on her thoughts around the design cover choices for her Sinner Tours series. Lisa Renee Jones also posted an article about how the “If I were you” series was developed. Apparently, a bit of art imitating life and not in the way you may think…get your mind out of the gutter folks. I find this shit so fascinating, I think my brain will explode some days. I like the timer idea Scandal.
As for this weekend, it is the first weekend in a long time that I don’t have to commit to a birthday party, a baby shower or whatever. So I am going to take the time to fall down random Gandy holes, put my feet up and read whatever the hell I want. The sky is the limit!

Right now I am sitting on the floor of the San Antonio airport so my immediate plans for the weekend are to get home and get some face time from my hubby. I’m missing the lovin. I did bring some new reading with me for the trip. I started The Proposition, but it just wasn’t doing it for me. I think that Aiden made some leaps that weren’t really realistic. So, I set that aside and went to Suspended. Again, it did not grab me so I went back to KA’ s Lady Luck. I absolutely love Ty. Thanks for the heads up on Edge. I forgot that one was this week. And I thought it was kind of cool that we’re talking about Raid and there is a man in uniform sitting next to me in the airport. But really, how out of the n form is that?

I was one in the minority that didn’t like The Proposition or The Proposal. I only read them because of the hype and I bitched about them (to myself) the whole time. I just don’t get the Aiden love.
I recently re-read Lady Luck. I love Ty, too! And Lexie too. She is maybe my fave KA heroine.
I know. I love Ty. He’s one of my favorites. And, I still think KA needs to do a story for Samuel.

No big plans for the weekend! My son has two school projects due and I am in need of sleep! I stayed up until the wee hours of the morning finishing a book (True Love Story by Willow Aster). I was bitching to Lola this morning about why I read books on angsty fucked up musicians! You know they are going to fuck up and yet I take the emotional rollercoaster ride anyway!
Sometimes I think I spend so much time immersed in social media that I don’t have time to actually be social! Facebook, Twitter, book blogs and Gandy…the deep dark black hole that I sometimes disappear into for hours. Who can really blame me for the countless hours spent stalking DG? I try to limit my FB time. Usually it just pisses me off. Why do people have to put all their shit out there? You did your laundry and went to Wal-Mart today? Fan-fucking-tastic, thanks for letting us all know! Insert eye roll here.
I just finished ‘True Love story’ too!! I liked it ….You Tania? Yeah those sexy musicians…naughty boys! I was sitting in my chair sobbing my heart out at the last ‘hotel’ scene at The Ritz Carlton……trying not to give anything away here!!
Teena, I really liked it. It made me cry! The book hooked me the first few pages in. “It has been a year, two months and seventeen days since I last saw him. Two years, ten months, and five days since he broke my heart”. Ugh, you know he is going to fuck up royally huge! But when it comes out I was like WTF??? And you even have an idea of who it is with but it was the details that sent me into the tailspin. His letters to her. Oh God, I had that moment when I was like ‘you are a dumbass mo’fo’ but then I just loved him all over again. And I loved all the characters…except for Laila. I just added Bullet by Jade C. Jamison to my TBR list. Another screwed up musician but it sounds like there is a lot of cheating and drug abuse involved. I need something fluffy to read first.
I Know , I Know….I was just ‘ are you SERIOUS!?’ it was the timing of the last ‘ incident’ that broke my heart. And the letters OOOOH Boy!

I read The Contract on release day and then went back and reread IIWY, The Seduction and The Contract again… Just as well I’m home sick with a chest infection and flu..
I agree with it being Mark. Think this is a case of hiding in plain site. My reasoning has some to do with the car – know it sounds crazy but there’s always a big car – picks her up, takes her to him, is outside when she left the night she received the contract…. that sounds sooooo like a ‘Mark’ thing to do.. Also when she went to his house – there’s talk about her going up the walkway and him then being at the door. The only other guys house we know a description of is Chris’s and it’s in the high-rise up a lift. Maybe I’m just hoping like mad it’s not Chris….. but no, it’s not him – it’s definitely Mark!!
Think you have something in the whole Chris protective stance – that may well be why he’s trying to put Sara off their ‘world’ and why he was so angry when he found out she had the Journals in the first place.
Did not cross my mind for a minute that creeper Josh may have Rebecca…. but jeez, frightening as it may be, that would work – he’s a scary psycho without doubt!! The gods only know how his nutty mind would come up with if he ever found out what Rebecca had gotten herself involved with!
If that was the case, MC would indeed be unable to go to the police for fear his secret would be exposed and his world would come crashing down on him – both from his own day to day Gallery business view and from his Dom POV where he’s ‘lost’ a Sub!
Have no doubt that LRJ will indeed throw in a few surprises in the next 2 books – maybe a couple of big red herrings to try to throw us off the scent?! The Master’s book comes out after Being Me is released so by then we’ll hopefully know what has happened to Rebecca and maybe hear his perspective on the whole matter?!? Can but hope…

Oh Tracy M. I am so glad you mentioned the walkway/house correlation. That was why I assumed it wasn’t Chris either. But in IIWY Chris mentions that Mark owns a dungeon of sorts (a communal fuck-pad). He actually takes Sara to this place. I LUV CHRIS! I don’t want it to be him. It just seems to damn obvious to me. But I agree with a lot of your points. Volume 3 and 4 come out before the second book. I think LRJ is going it to drag it to the bloody end. Volume five which is the last in the series, is title “Revealing Us”…interesting. I think Rebecca is suffering from multiple personality disorders and these people are made up in her head… hehehe!

Soooooo, we ‘re gonna get another couple of huge twists in Journals 3 & 4. In BM we’ll find out what happened to Rebecca (right at the very end, with an ear-splitting scream inducing cliff hanger…..as we know LRJ has a want to torture us with) Then TMU will give us HIS side and tell us why he’s not bringing in the cops to look for her – ‘cos by then we’ll know for sure that that crazy screwed up bastard Josh has her – then in Revealing Us…. ahh, who the fuck knows what will happen then…… Can’t see a HEA for Chris and Sara there, can you?!?
Can’t remember the last time I got so into a series as with this one…. Got some great books on the go but whatever I’m reading gets put on hold when LRJ’s books come out.
Here’s to book 3 and a lot more clue searching!!!
