Book Summary

from author’s website…

A mysterious prank brought them together for sizzling-hot romance . . .

“I’m just a nosy little ad exec who’s dying to see who invited me to meet you.”

“Listen, Sherry Whoever-You-Are, I’m very, very busy,” Kit Fleming answered. “If you could just speed this up, I’d be wildly grateful.”

Sherry became uncomfortably aware that he had a very sexy phone voice. “Well, you see, I got a delivery tonight, and I didn’t have anything smaller than a fifty, so the kid had to give me change.”

“Uh-huh,” he said, the grunt tinged with annoyance. “Fascinating.”

“The twenty he gave me had some writing on it.”

“Writing?”

“‘For a good time, call Kit.’ And of course, your phone number.”

My Scandalicious Opinion of books

I love the concept of this story. So much fun…sassy ad executive finds a $20 in her hands with the name and number of someone willing to give her a good time. Sherry, never one to shy away from a good deed, calls the number thinking she’s doing a girl a favor, getting her number off the streets. The person, Kit, who’s number is on the money is anything but female. In fact, his deliciously sexy voice makes Sherry curious…because that voice is attached to someone who sounds completely aloof. They meet, they flirt, she’s not impressed because he’s not her type, you know…happy…ever. One and done. Well not so fast Sherry, Kit happens to be your next big client.

For a Good Time, Call… is a short, fun, silly, sweet, touching read. There’s plenty of heat and unrequited love between these two but the sex isn’t what I’d call scandalicious. Don’t get me wrong, it’s hot, but it’s not frequent…how’s that. I read this book in just a couple of hours, I think it’s right around 150 pages. There is a fair amount of angst, see Sherry wants a relationship and sees potential in Kit. Kit however, is decidedly anti-relationship…ever. He’s always been upfront about is inability to commit, and Sherry knows what she’s getting into when she finally gives in to his relentless pursuit. She just had no idea she’s lose her heart so quickly. But, has Sherry’s love changed Kit’s ways? And if he’s so inclined, does he even know HOW to change his ways? And if he can figure out what to do, will Sherry ever trust her heart to him again? Like I said, it’s a fun read. You are going to love Sherry. She’s smart, happy, fearless, well adjusted, competent and has a wicked sense of humor. Kit is drop dead gorgeous and very controlling. He has to be a control freak, it’s the only way he can protect his heart from what he is considers certain doom should he hand it over to a woman.

If you are looking for a nice, easy palette cleanser of a read that will leave you with a smile, For a Good Time, Call is your book. If I’m being completely honest, I think the $4.99 price tag might be a bit pricey but keep an eye out…if it goes on sale, add it to your list.

Comments

  1. I think it was a good short read, I kind of liked Kit he was amusing and a bit pushy lol

    • Oh, I enjoyed Kit, amusing, pushy and sexy. I wanted to shake him a couple of times but still very much enjoyable!!

  2. I got this as an Amazon Freebie back before Christmas. It’s cute, but KA has ruined me on commitment-phobic men. I like that it’s the ladies that do the running–even if it usually makes me wanna choke them out–and that the boys know what they want and get on it like a boss.

  3. I also got this for free in December. Sherry and Kit were great and there was a lot of humor in the story, but agree with you that $4.99 is too much for such a short read.

  4. Thanks very much, ladies! I appreciate your comments tremendously.

But just so you know, I don’t set the price of my books. My publisher does that. So please don’t take it out on me! The other good thing, though, is that my pub puts my books on sale often at Amazon and B&N, so you never know when. I try to let people know through FB & Twitter, but that’s not exactly a shout-out to the world. :)

And for those of you who prefer when it’s the man who wants to commit, while the woman isn’t so sure, Send Me No Flowers comes out late next month, and it’s definitely a role reversal. The guy just can’t figure out what it takes to win her. The woman is too afraid of being hurt. So I DO mix it up here and there. :)

    Best, and thanks so much!

    • Trish,
Thanks for stopping by. Please don’t think we were holding the book price against you. I just did a post on Friday that discussed e-book prices. I reviewed a book that was 3.99 for 40 pages – it was a really entertaining book but the author is brand new and it was just 40 pages long, it made me wonder about my reader’s hard limit on book prices so I asked – and they had a lot to say! I try to keep an eye out for the deals and bargains so I can pass them along to my readers, too.

Send Me No Flowers sounds like a fun read. I’ll keep an eye out for it.

      Thanks again for stopping by!
